Shield is a free scam checker from WAJD Group. It is built so that you can check a suspicious message without giving away anything about yourself. This page explains, in plain words, what happens to what you send.
When you paste a message or upload a screenshot, it travels over an encrypted connection to Shield's own server and is analysed only to work out the verdict you see on screen. As soon as the verdict is produced, the message and any image are discarded. They are never saved to a file or a database, never attached to your name, and Shield does not use them to train anything.
A screenshot is read only to pull out the text of the message inside it. The image itself is not kept.
Most of the work is done by Shield's own rules, running on our own server. Clear cases are decided there and go no further.
Where the rules cannot settle it on their own, and always when you send a screenshot, the message is passed over an encrypted connection to the AI analysis service Shield uses, so that one verdict can be worked out. It is used for that and nothing else. It is not sold, not passed to advertisers, and not given to anyone for their own purposes.
We keep nothing that could identify you, and no part of your message. To watch the quality of the service, we keep a small anonymous record for up to 30 days that contains only:
That record holds no names, no message text, no images, no phone numbers, and no way to trace it back to you.
You do not need an account to use Shield. There are no advertising trackers and no third party analytics following you around. The website uses no tracking cookies.
If you forward a message to the Shield WhatsApp number, it is checked and deleted in the same way. The chat itself sits inside WhatsApp, so WhatsApp's own terms and privacy policy apply to that conversation.
The Shield app on Google Play is the same checker in an app window, and this policy covers it in full. It asks for no permissions, holds no account, and stores nothing about you on your phone beyond the files any website keeps to open quickly. If you share a message into Shield from another app, that message is handed straight to the checker and treated exactly as a pasted one.
The service runs over a secure connection and limits how often it can be used, to protect it from abuse.
Shield is a general audience tool, made to help older adults and families spot scams. It is not aimed at children.
